He shares the Top 5 Keywords for SEO, in a recent research report, with guests Russ Moore, DigitalMarketer.com; Lee, Susan (itme515) B.Q., Erehwon / Portrait Photography; and David Kavensky, PortraitPhotography.com. It was an exciting discussion, where Erik and Russ Moore connected on why keywords are so important. According to Erik: “Keywords are the gateway to your customer. The key to a quality website is quality content. The keyword engine is your customer. It’s the most important tool in the toolbox. It’s what gets your customers there.”

1 – You Need to Keep Up With Google Updates

The biggest factor that impacts your results is how quickly you can keep up with Google updates. For example, you want to be able to automatically update your campaigns and website URLs to point to any of the hundreds of alternative domain names that the Googlebot can see. More importantly, you want to make sure that you’re able to quickly update your website to the latest version of any Google Search terms that are generated from your search engine queries. You can’t do that if you are running the same URL over and over again. To make sure you’re always keeping up with what Google is doing, install the Google Toolbar or use the Google Updates widget (also linked below) on your website.

2. Google Has Over 7,000 Websites that it Uses for Marketing – And They Don’t Get Special Treatment in Search

Yep. But, we sure weren’t telling them that. Here is an epic email, which in the newsletter process was going to get lost in the maelstrom of daily communications we get from our community of customers, advertisers, and other constituents. We hope you find this as interesting and helpful as we did: * * * Steve Shankar: It's clear that Google’s reputation has taken a hit over the past week. And, like many others, I am experiencing high anxiety over what’s happened. What was most interesting to me as I read this, is that, even with the evidence to back this up, there is some disagreement over whether or not Google is in the right here. There is much disagreement over what's in the right and wrong here.

3 – You Don’t Have to Know Everything About SEO to See Improvements.

I don’t mean to shock you, but there are a bunch of not-so-intuitive ways you can get backlinks. They’re often ways you won’t find in your research tools or in the how-to guides you find on the web. In short, they’re not the obvious ways that Google likes. You need to dig through a couple of directories. Ask a bunch of entrepreneurs. Pay attention to the ads you’re exposed to. In the meantime, let’s talk about some ways you can link to a product and get backlinks in an efficient way that also works with Google.

4 Don’t be Afraid to Mix Things Up

One of the best things about being part of a massive community is being able to experience new things with a wide variety of people. While it can be great to find some familiarity in the same locations, going to familiar haunts can be a great way to get a sense of the community you’re a part of. For example, if you find a particular social group to be incredibly active at the local coffee shop, this is one of the best places to check out and maybe even find your own social group. While you don’t want to simply try to make friends in every social group in every place you visit, don’t be afraid to branch out and try new social situations. You’re going to be a part of a new community, so it’s not going to do you any good if you don’t make new friends!
